Yep, used an install key but ... it won't let me change it to the bios key - all I can think is maybe I'm using the wrong oem disk ... it does show a HP logo on the desktop and login pic is HP logo so the OS does think its an HP laptop ... it just says key cannot be used to activate this edition of windows
one suggestion I have found is - "You have a Single Language licence - download and install that edition." seriously does that make a difference ??? I think the disk I have is multi-language ... so I'll try this - -ca/software-download/windows8ISO?irgwc=1&OCID=AID2000142_aff_7794_12464... hopefully its not language specific ... I'll try English/English first.
Windows 8.1 Pro Rtm Download Iso 64 Bit
I am trying to install windows 8 pro RTM 64 bit edition on my machine. However, I get this error once it is past "getting devices ready 75%" and then this error. I am installing it via USB flash drive, getting same error even with multiple USB flash drives.
I can confirm that the ISO is not corrupt. I can run the setup perfectly fine in VirtualBox. I even used same ISO for installation on my laptop and it worked great. Finally i have reverted back to windows 7. :(
hi, I have an HP ENVY dv6-7200 computer. I replaced the hard drive with the new one recently because it was not working anymore. I have windows 8 product key but I can't find windows 8 iso file anywhere. So I downloaded the windows 8.1 iso from Microsoft web site. But my windows 8 product key is not working on the installation of windows 8.1. I tried the generic keys on installation, I thought that maybe I can activate later with my original windows 8 key. I managed to install the windows 8.1 but when I want to activate it my original windows 8 product key was denied. I don't want to purchase a new product. What should I do?
Install W8.1 by creating the Microsoft installation media, using another Windows PC, if yours is not working...You want the W8.1 Single Language 64 bit ISO file. -us/software-download/windows8ISOIf you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, use this generic key.
Windows 7 Language Interface Packs (LIPs) provide a translated version of the most widely used areas of the user interface. In order to download a LIP for Internet Explorer, you need to have a matching Windows LIP. For more information, see Download languages for Windows.
Hi i would really like the generic keys for windows 8 enterprise so that i could use the windows to go feature. I wish to try to put win 8 or win 10 on to a usb 64 gb bootable stick, this is to use the usb stick to operate on any computer.
The easiest way to convert an ISO file to a DVD in Windows 7 is to use Windows Disc Image Burner. On a PC running Windows XP or Windows Vista, a third-party program is required to convert an ISO file into installable media---and DVD burning software often includes this capability. One option is the USB/DVD download tool provided by the Microsoft Store. You can also download Windows 8 Release Upgrade Assitant, which includes tools that allow you to create a DVD or USB flash drive from an ISO file (Windows Vista or Windows 7 required).
For years techies have been downloading software from TechNet then installing it. Microsoft is now going to extend this principle for members of the public to install Windows 8. Thanks to digital delivery, Microsoft will sell downloads of Windows 8 anyone who has a credit card, thus saving people having to go out and buy a physical disc from a store, or place an internet order with postal delivery.
Streamlined SetupMany want a fast no-hassle install, or more likely an upgrade. Those who take this option get a web browser interface and can download the files from the internet. These users sacrifice the ability to customise, but gain in speed and simplicity.
But yeah don't think of 8.1 as a new OS because it is not. Upgrading from 8 to 8.1 will be just like when you upgraded XP to XP sp1 or Windows 7 to Windows 7 SP1. (Although we can't really call this a service pack, it basically is. Instead of Service pack's they are adding new windows versions now.)
No need to install 8.1 pro then add WMC and no need to faff about downloading / updating or adding keys :) (the only issue is it will only activate after install one that one PC you got data.dat from) if you use this custom ISO on another machine even if you use a legit upgrade WMC key it won't activate (but will let you install it) and you will have to do phone activation.
I think it still has flaws, like why the ###### isn't their a windows update link in the power menu (accessed from right clicking the start button), why do i have to right click that action centre icon. This bugs the hell outta me coz its so mind bogglingly obvious (anyone know any tweaks for this)? I never use modern apps but I absolutely love having the modern UI start because, rather than having a start button, I've customized things to like browser, security stuff, etc etc. I boot to desktop and also have the same icons pinned to my taskbar so its all good. Anyhow, I prefer Windows 8 to Windows 7. Just for the modern UI start.

The Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6 is a highly compatible, in-place update to the Microsoft .NET Framework 4, Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5, Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1, and Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2. The web installer is a small package that automatically determines and downloads only the components applicable for a particular platform.
Windows 8 was largely designed for use on touchscreen devices such as tablets, and this can be seen across the operating system, which features larger buttons, more distinct colors, and a more modern interface coupled with the removal of Aero translucency effects on open windows. The complete overhaul of the classic Windows shell was accompanied by the largely controversial addition of the Metro user interface, which includes a new Start menu (referred to as the Start screen), a full-screen tile-based user interface replacing the smaller Start menu first introduced in Windows 95. From the Start screen, Metro apps can be launched, which can either take up the entire screen, providing an immersive interface, or be snapped to a side of the screen alongside another application or the desktop. The Start screen contains titles for all applications and some can be live, with realtime information being directly provided to the user as time passes.
Progress windows have been modified to remove the animation on the top and feature a toggleable advanced view that shows the current progress of a file operation, including a detailed graph for tracking file transfer speeds, coupled with the ability to pause operations. The older progress dialog box can still be observed when recycling large amounts of files, transferring files from a mobile device or while modifying permissions for files and folders, although this would be partially changed to the new one starting with 8.1. Notifications have been updated to be more noticeable, as they appear on the right of the screen and are the same color as the current theme.
Windows Store allows the consumer to distribute and download Metro apps or advertise desktop software. The Windows Store would later be redesigned in Windows 8.1. The Store was called "MSHelp" in order to disguise its true purpose between builds 7814 and 8032. The Windows Store would later be rebranded as the Microsoft Store in September 2017 in an update for the app for Windows 10 devices.
Unlike Windows Vista and Windows 7, Windows Media Center is not included by default in any Windows 8 edition. Customers with existing Windows 8 Pro licenses could purchase Media Center with the Windows 8 Pro Pack until 30 October 2015. It was previously free under a promotional offer (until 31 January 2013). The application no longer runs at startup, nor does it overlay itself on top of other windows.
Desktop Window Manager now renders using a software-based 3D rasterizer when a hardware-based accelerator is unavailable; this also conincides with the Windows Classic and Windows Basic themes being disabled by default. Although the visual styles still exist, they cannot be used unless one uses workarounds to forcibly enable the older styles, such as the direct modification of system files or utilities that change the way how windows are displayed.
